Typical CIDG Recon Team.
We have no pictures of the indigenous members of Wright's team and
we don't know their names. This picture of another similar
team must speak for them. Photo courtesy Brendon Lyons.

Seven Indigenous Members. There were seven indigenous members of
Wright's team who were members of the CIDG - the Civilian Irregular Defense
Group. Their names are not
recorded in any of the published accounts available to Valor Remembered's
researchers. They may have been Montagnards, Nung, or another ethnic group.
Their courageous actions and skill as soldiers during the battle were
instrumental in the survival of the team. They continued to fight
against overwhelming odds despite serious wounds until extracted by Roger Waggie.
Many of them were critically wounded and one source indicates that only one of
them survived the war.
Valor Remembered plans to preserve the legacy
of valor of these indigenous teammates of Leroy Wright by documenting their
personal histories and fates.
Artworks that honor
them individually, or as a group may be created in association with the Roy P.
Benavidez Memorial project.
We are seeking information about the CIDG
members of Wright's team and we request assistance in establishing contact with
anyone who has knowledge of them. In the absence of specific information
and names we would be pleased to at least learn their probable ethnic group or
tribe.
