ROY
P. BENAVIDEZ
Stories of His Life
Why Roy Benavidez?
For his intrepid actions in Cambodia during the
Vietnam war in 1968 Roy Benavidez was awarded the Medal of Honor in
1981. Valor Remembered has chosen to recognize Roy Benavidez by
creating a monumental sculpture of him. His acts on that day are more
than sufficient cause to honor him, but we have also seen how he lived his
life before and after the Medal of Honor - it is for all of this that
Valor Remembered seeks to honor Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez, USA Special
Forces..
ROY'S BIOGRAPHY.
Valor Remembered will be publishing a series of articles and stories on Roy
Benavidez's life on this website during our commemoration project.
These will become a permanent part of this "virtual" memorial and history
archive.
DUTY - HONOR -
COUNTRY. Read "Hello, Remember Me?" at the link below.
It expresses what Roy Benavidez was all about. He quoted the verse by
memory every time that he spoke publicly.
ROY'S FINAL MISSION.
Sister Elizabeth Riebschlaeger, of Cuero, Texas was one of Roy's earliest friends
for she knew him in the first grade. She admired
his commitment to his "final mission" in life. Her testimonial on Roy Benavidez "Final
Mission" leads Valor Remembered's series of articles on Roy
Benavidez's life.
ROY'S LITTLE BROTHERS.
One of Roy's "little brothers"
is Captain Daniel Castillo, US Army Special Forces (retired). Danny was
inspired to join the Special Forces by one of Roy's lectures while he was a
student at the New Mexico Military Academy. Danny was retired after a severe
spinal injury sustained in South America during the "Drug War."
